Currently I work at home with my two children, writing and doing photography when I can. (Please have a look at my photos on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/doitforlove/)
Before having children I worked in a range of jobs in and out of government including media adviser to a federal Member of Parliament, intelligence officer with the Office of National Assessments, Parliamentary Fellow and Research Specialist at the Parliamentary Library in Canberra and analyst at the New South Wales Crime Commission. I also have a PhD in political science.
I now aim to write about and document photographically my interest in social issues including homelessness, income inequities, mental health and drug and alcohol use. In particular I'm interested in the ways access to money, education and other resources shape our abilities to deal with difficult circumstances. Too many people fall through crack after crack in family and social safety nets and end up rock bottom, for want of a simple intervention at the right time. I'll be exploring the interventions that have made a difference to some people's lives - watch this space for these projects.
